Jordan Howard is gone. His three-year run with the Chicago Bears a memory that grows further distance with each passing day. The trade that led to this is complete. The team gets a 6th round pick in 2020 that could become a 5th round pick if certain conditions are met. The Philadelphia Eagles get Howard who is on the last year of his rookie contract.
All that was left was to hear from the man himself. Howard expressed his deep gratitude during a farewell on his social media accounts, thanking Chicago for supporting him throughout his successful run with the Bears. However, the man himself didn’t get in front of the cameras until his official introduction to the Philadelphia press on April 1st.
True to form, Howard was his useful self. He was calm, patient, and humble while answering questions. It turns out that this trade had basically been in place for about a month. The two teams just waited on announcing it until all the details were worked out. When asked about his feelings for his former team, it was clear Howard held no ill-will.
Howard said he basically knew he was going to be an #Eagle for a month.

In his introduction with Philadelphia reporters, Jordan Howard said of being traded from Chicago: “They made a decision to move on. I can’t be mad at that. … I don’t have anything but good things to say about them. The Bears are on the come up.” (Via @howardeskin)

Jordan Howard looking forward and has only love for the Bears
It’s clear the Bears kept him in the loop throughout the process this offseason, making sure he wasn’t blindsided when the news eventually hit. That is typical of GM Ryan Pace and his front office. They try to do right by players even when the team is moving on be it releasing them early before free agency or giving constant updates on trade talks.
While Howard doesn’t know why the team made the move, he does accept it and is looking forward to his new opportunity with the Eagles. Just another reminder of why Bears fans loved him so much, and why he will be missed. Hopefully the teams’ plan to move on works out because fans have seen these “bad fit” trades blow up in their faces before.
