The O*kland Raiders have once again made waves as the team announced today it will be re-signing wide receiver Martavis Bryant less than two weeks after cutting the much-maligned pass catcher. Bryant was released at the beginning of the September after news came of a looking suspension.
It has been a few weeks since the potential suspension became news again, but the NFL has yet to take action. Bryant is free to play until the league makes a ruling, which could come at any time or not at all. The talented receiver reportedly violated the league’s substance abuse policy.
He’s expected to play Week 2 against the Broncos.
After last night’s rough loss to the Los Angles Rams and Derek Carr’s poor finish, Oakland’s front office made this move. While tight end Jared Cook gained a franchise-record 180 receiving yards, there was little performance from the rest of the receiving corps. Carr only completed five passes to wide receivers.

Traded by the Steelers for what amounted to a bag of footballs, Bryant’s off-the-field behavior has raised many concerns. The 26-year-old caught 26 balls for 549 yards last season, and was clearly beaten out by JuJu Smith-Schuster midway through the season. Bryant caught just two passes for 32 yards in the preseason with the Silver & Black.
The team has not released a statement at this time, but more information is forthcoming.
