BREAKING: Bears Make It Official as Mitch Trubisky Will Start vs. Vikings

-

The dream of Chicago Bears fans is about to come to life as several sources including Adam Schefter and Dan Graziano confirmed the #2 overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft will make his debut on Monday Night Football against the Minnesota Vikings.

The decision shouldn’t be that big of a surprise. Former starter Mike Glennon may have been the original plan but he did not pan out as expected. He committed eight turnovers in four games including two ugly outings in Tampa Bay and Green Bay. The 28-year old veteran never looked comfortable, even going back to the start of the preseason.

Mitch Trubisky move was inevitable at this point

Trubisky outplayed him from the beginning in August, looking smooth and confident as a passer and showing his athleticism as a runner. Many were confused why the Bears chose to wait in the first place. It was fairly obvious he was the better quarterback. Rumors persist they wanted to stick to their plan, avoid putting him on the field too soon.

Unfortunately most plans don’t survive contact with the NFL. Trubisky is a rookie and will make mistakes, but in the long-term the game experience he’ll get moving forward will prove invaluable for the future. Many are concerned about the lack of receiving options available and that is a problem.

On the other hand his versatility as a runner will also open up opportunities for Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen in the running game. Something Glennon just couldn’t bring to the table. It’s a move that had to happen regardless of original desires.
