Nick Foles’ Reply To Tom Brady Handshake Snub Was 100% Savage

Nick Foles is proving one thing since taking over as the Chicago Bears starting quarterback. This image people have of the soft-spoken family man who is deeply devoted to his faith? Yeah, that might not be entirely accurate. Foles is indeed a devout Christian who loves his family but when it comes to staying lowkey with his comments? That’s another thing entirely.

The 31-year old quarterback seems to have a bite to him. Chicago fans saw that after the win over the Carolina Panthers. When asked if he was frustrated with the Bears offense despite the 5-1 start to the season, Foles bristled. In a spirited reply that lasted almost three minutes, he made it clear all that mattered for this team was winning. Style points meant nothing.

That was the first taste fans got of the real Nick Foles.

He isn’t afraid to stick up for himself or his teammate. Apparently, the guy also isn’t afraid to poke the bear the opportunity arises. Everybody has heard the controversial story of how future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady refused to shake his hand after the Bears stunned the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday Night Football.

When confronted with that accusation, Brady shrugged it off saying he hadn’t even thought about it. Sometimes he just runs off the field. He shook hands with guys like Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers because he had personal relationships with them. Good excuse, right? Well, he certainly had no problem doing the same with rookie Justin Herbert after beating the Chargers a week prior to the Bears game.

Foles couldn’t help but smile when asked about Brady’s response and the entire thing as a whole.

“There’s obviously history there from a big game we both played in once. Then Thursday night but it is what it is. I think he’s a tremendous player…

…Thinking back to the golf match, I think Peyton (Manning) was getting under his skin and when he brought my name up, it got to him. I don’t know why that is. We’ve never had that conversation but I think he’s a great player and obviously one of the greatest of all-time.”

Was he at all offended or hurt that Brady didn’t take the time to shake his hand?

“Oh I didn’t cry at all. It wasn’t the first time it happened I just sort of laughed it off and just sort of moved on with my life and I’m sure he’s doing the same thing.”

Nick Foles doesn’t know or care why Brady hates him

The all-time great certainly seems to have hard feelings against Foles. Some believe it’s because of the Super Bowl loss. That may be true. Then again Eli Manning beat Brady twice in the big game and those two never had a problem shaking hands. Perhaps it’s a case of elitism. Brady can’t stand the idea of being bested by a career backup not once but twice.

Which is the ultimate form of irony.

Don’t forget his first Super Bowl win came in a season where he was the backup to start the season before coming in for an injured Drew Bledsoe. Then he upset the high-powered Rams and their future Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner. If anybody should have an appreciation for achieving greatness from humble beginnings, it’s Brady.

Not that it matters to Foles. His concerns on the matter revolve around winning the games. He has no time for Tom’s hurt feelings and lack of sportsmanship. He’s moving forward with the Bears in their pursuit of a playoff spot. Perhaps the two quarterbacks will meet again in January.

That would make for some fascinating theater. Especially if Foles were to somehow upset him for a third time. Just imagine the headlines if Brady snubbed him again.
