NFL Week 8: Tua Time In Miami And Two More Underdogs To Look At

-

What an amazing end to a World Series we had yesterday huh? I know you were probably like me, someone who really wanted to see a Game 7 so you bet on the Tampa Bay Rays moneyline. So now you are disappointed because not only is baseball over, but you probably lost your bet. Well, cheer up. One underdog didn’t pull off the upset this week (thank you Kevin Cash), but NFL Week 8 is primed with some juicy matchups that will as always potentially feature an upset or two. Yesterday, we gave you some teaser options that we think will hit, including the Philadelphia Eagles against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night. Move that number in your favor and reap the rewards.

Each week, we go over the entire weeks’ NFL slate and select some of our favorite teams that are underdogs to pull off the upset. Last week, the Carolina Panthers broke our hearts against the New Orleans Saints, losing by a field goal and ending our favorite upset pick. This week’s underdog board is considerably smaller with less value, but we’ll give you some options to consider for a ML dog parlay or however you like to bet on an upset.

FanDuel Sportsbook provides all numbers.

Los Angeles Rams (5-2) at Miami Dolphins (3-3)

Current Line: LAR -4, MIA +4

Total: 46

We’ve been waiting, and the moment has finally arrived. Tua Tagovailoa will make his first NFL start this Sunday against the Rams in Miami. The Dolphins have had two full weeks to prepare Tua for his NFL debut, as they will be coming off the bye week. It will be a short week for Los Angeles after their throttling of the Chicago Bears on Monday night in LA, which came a week after they lost a crucial division game to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football. The Rams will once again be traveling across the country, with this being already their fourth game on the east coast. Of course, we don’t know what Tua will look like or how the Miami gameplan will be laid out and simplified with him under center. But we feel pretty confident that Miami will at least cover the 4 points, if not win outright here in Tua’s first game.

New Orleans Saints (4-2) at Chicago Bears (5-2)

Current Line: NO -4, CHI +4

Total: 43.5

The Saints seem to always be on this list week after week, and for good reason. They are consistent favorites in almost every game they play, but they look bad while doing it. New Orleans’ defense is giving up 30 PPG, and they can’t seem to stop anybody through the air. All-Pro corner Marshawn Lattimore has been torched this season, which should make receivers like Allen Robinson lick their chops. The Bears got flat-out embarrassed by the Rams last Monday night. Their defense let up numerous explosive run plays, and the offense… well, you know how that went. Akiem Hicks leads the NFL in penalties. Bears fans have been going crazy this week calling for everyone’s jobs, but this is a fantastic and classic bounce-back spot at home. Teams that get embarrassed in prime time often come out with their best performance the next week. Expect the Bears to come to play this week. They can’t be any worse than they were on Monday.

Los Angeles Chargers (2-4) at Denver Broncos (2-4)

Current Line: LAC -3, DEN +3

Total: 44.5

Mile High has not been as kind to the Broncos as it has in past seasons. It has been one of the strongest trends in the NFL to back the Broncos early in the season. The thin Denver air plays a big role in helping the Broncos secure wins at home against unprepared teams. This season, Denver is 0-3 at home and it hasn’t been pretty when they are playing there. They were absolutely annihilated at home by the Kansas City Chiefs last week 43-16. But if you remove a defensive TD and a special teams TD for the Chiefs, this game was a lot closer than it appeared. Chargers QB Justin Herbert had to make a 4th quarter comeback last weekend against the Jacksonville Jaguars, who quite possibly could have the worst defense in football. The kid has been spectacular, but he has yet to feel the effects of Mile High. Don’t sleep on the Broncos as a live dog here.
