Can The Football Team Lock Up The NFC East Tonight Against Philly? – SNF Best Bets

-

The final game of the 2020 regular season will feature one team looking to secure a division title while the other looks at the future at QB. While the Washington Football Team is in pole position to win the NFC East with a win, the season ended last week for the Philadelphia Eagles when they were eliminated following a loss to the Dallas Cowboys. QB Jalen Hurts, who has been more explosive coming in for the benched Carson Wentz, still is having the same issue Wentz did with ball security for Philly. He and the Eagles offense committed 3 turnovers last week against Dallas, and following a tight first half of football, really stalled and was held scoreless in the second. For the Football Team, they finally had enough and decided to cut former first-round pick Dwayne Haskins, ending his time in Washington. Alex Smith has been named as the starter coming back from injury, which should be a relief for Football Team fans as they avoid a Taylor Heinicke start, who would have been the fourth different QB to suit up and start for them this season. Despite up and down offensive performances, the Washington defense remains a top unit in the NFL, ranking fourth-best in yards allowed thanks in part to Chase Young and the defensive front. They will look to get after the Eagles offensive line, which has given up the most sacks this season of any unit in football. DraftKings wants you to take advantage of this win and in matchup by offering you a great deal that’s going on right now.

Sunday Night Football Best Bets/Preview

Washington Football Team (6-9) at Philadelphia Eagles (4-10-1)

Spread: WAS -4, PHI +4

Total: 44

Does this game really start with asking yourself what kind of motivation the Eagles have right now to play hard in this game? Yes, it does. While they were eliminated last week against Dallas, I think you are still going to see Philly come out swinging and try to throw a wrench into the divisional race. Hurts has been playing well overall, and has shown promise as a young QB. He certainly won’t be backing down, as he is looking to capture and secure his place as the Eagles starting QB of the future.

He’ll be in for a tough matchup against a Washington defensive front that features presumptive defensive rookie of the year Chase Young, and a line that is top-5 in sack rate. That defense has carried the team into the driver’s seat of the divisional race, and it should have the ability to thrive in the season finale.

Washington’s offense is another issue entirely that still poses many questions besides the long-term answer at QB. Their #1 receiver Terry McLaurin may not play due to injury after missing last week and being seen in a walking boot. Rookie RB Antonio Gibson was back in Week 16 and had 10 carries for 61 yards, which is great news for Washington. He is one of their best and most dynamic players on offense already, racking up 961 yards this season and now facing a banged-up Philly defense.

DT Fletcher Cox left the Eagle’s game last Sunday against the Cowboys with an injury, and the results afterward couldn’t have been worse for Philly, as they were outscored 34-3. They could not generate any pressure after his injury, even allowing Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliot to surpass 100 yards for just the second time all year. The Eagles will once again be severely short-handed this week with Cox, RB Miles Sanders, WR DeSean Jackson, and 6 others listed as OUT for the game.

Despite the rash of injuries, I still can’t trust Washington to put up a ton of points, and I can’t trust the Eagles and against this Football Team defense. That will be the best unit that plays in this game, and with Smith returning from a leg injury, I could see Ron Rivera going run-heavy as well. My play in this game would be the under, as I see it as a 20-17 or 23-20 type of game.

It’s also for that reason that I would side with the Eagles being able to keep the game close at home. I think you will see a valiant effort out of Doug Pederson’s squad that will keep them within a field goal for much of the game.

Prediction: PHI +4, UNDER 44

Player Props To Consider

Jalen Hurts UNDER Passing Yards – Washington is 3rd against the pass and will be getting after Hurts all night long.

Jalen Hurts OVER Rushing Yards – It’s for that reason that Hurts will be running for his life all game.

Jalen Reagor OVER Receiving Yards – Another Jalen to bet on, Reagor has been Hurts’ most targeted receiver since he’s returned from injury.

J.D. McKissic OVER Receptions – Captain Checkdown is back, which means McKissic will be targeted a billion times in the game when they actually decide to pass.

J.D. McKissic OVER Receiving Yards – With more catches, come more yardage. I could see McKissic going over 50 here easily.

Antonio Gibson OVER Rushing Yards – Washington will probably be very run-heavy most of the game, which bodes well for the dynamic rookie RB
