Can LeBron and The Lakers Bounce Back From Slow Start? – NBA Best Bets/Previews for Tonight

-

No Thursday Night Football tomorrow, so instead, we’re going to start getting into the basketball spirit with previews and predictions for upcoming games throughout the NBA season. Tonight we have several intriguing matchups to take a look at and examine. The Nets, who are one of the favorites to win the NBA title this year, are coming off back to back losses and facing a resurgent Hawks team. Meanwhile, LaMelo Ball and the Hornets travel to Dallas to take on Luka Docic and the Mavericks. Finally, the Lakers and LeBron James hit the road to try and get their season on track against DeMar DeRozen and the San Antonio Spurs, who have been better than expected to start the year. Each one of these matches provides us with several advantages to bet on, so let’s dive into it. DraftKings is offering new users a chance at epic victory right now with an amazing promo that you should be sure to take a look at.

Best Bets/Previews

Atlanta Hawks (3-0) at Brooklyn Nets (2-2)

Spread: BKN -6, ATL +6

The Atlanta Hawks have come out of the proverbial gates firing on all cylinders and are undefeated through three games into the 2020-21 NBA season. They will look to upset the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center tonight and keep building on that momentum. The Hawks’ latest win came at the expense of the Detroit Pistons in a 128-120 victory. PG Trae Young continued his torrent start to the season during that contest with 29 points, and is now averaging a spectacular 34.0 PPG. Young was very successful last season against Brooklyn, averaging 36 points and 10 assists across four matches, although the Nets still won the season series 3-1. Brooklyn is coming off a loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday, falling 116-111 despite a remarkable effort from young star Caris LeVert, who had 28 points and 11 assists to go along with 5 steals. Superstars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving did not suit up for the game but will be returning for this contest. I like the Hawks to keep it close, but with the return of the two superstars, I think Brooklyn gets the win.

Prediction: ATL +6

Charlotte Hornets (1-2) at Dallas Mavericks (1-2)

Spread: DAL -8, CHA +8

The Dallas Mavericks finally get to play a home game, with their home-opener commencing tonight when the Charlotte Hornets visit American Airlines Center. Both teams have taken an identical journey through the season so far, losing their first two contests and getting a win in their last. Dallas absolutely demolished the Los Angeles Clippers 124-73 last time out, which is the largest winning margin in an NBA game in 2 years and the largest by the Mavs since 2014. Meanwhile, although it was a much closer result than Dallas, the Hornets’ 106-104 victory over the Nets was still very impressive. These teams met twice last year, with the road team being victorious in each match. Devonte’ Graham was a pivotal player through those contests, averaging 26.5 points and 11.5 assists. While the Mavs may also lose Josh Richardson to the sideline with Kristaps Porzingis due to injury, I still think they come out and dominate this game. Doncic will likely be unstoppable, and the Mavs suffocating defense will bottle up Charlotte.

Prediction: DAL -8

Los Angeles Lakers (2-2) at San Antonio Spurs (2-1)

Spread: LAL -6, SAS +6

Set to hit the road for the first time in the new NBA season, the LA Lakers will visit the San Antonio Spurs tonight at AT&T Center. The Lakers are coming into this game with a 2-2 record after falling 115-107 to the Portland Trail Blazers. LeBron James tweaked his ankle in that game and is questionable for this contest. If he cannot go, the news would certainly liven up Spurs coach Gregg Popovich. LeBron has averaged 33.4 points and 10 assists in his last eight games against San Antonio. Three of those games came last season when the Lakers swept the Spurs 3-0. DeMar DeRozan will be a key factor in the game, as he himself averages 28 points against LA in his last seven outings against them. He’ll look to improve from his poor performance against the New Orleans Pelicans last time out when he had only 8 points in a 98-95 loss. If LeBron plays, I really like the Lakers to get the job done. Keep an eye on the injury report before tip.

Prediction: LAL -6
