Conor McGregor’s Teammates Kickoff The Best Fight Weekend Of The Year!

-

I’ve been waiting for this weekend for roughly three months now. I’ve had it circled in my calendar and I’ve alerted friends and family that I will not be available this weekend because everything is simply too good to miss.

Saturday night plays host to what many, including myself, are calling the UFC’s biggest card of the year in UFC 268. Saturday night also plays host to boxing’s pound-for-pound king fighting when Canelo Alvarez defends his titles against Caleb Plant. So in other words if the biggest UFC card of the year wasn’t good enough to stand on it’s own, go ahead and pair that with the best boxer alive defending his titles in a fight that many say is against a fighter in Plant who is a formidable opponent for Alvarez who we are used to seeing as an extreme favorite.

But before we even get to the ridiculousness that is Saturday, we are treated with an appetizer of Bellator 270 live from Dublin, Ireland on Friday afternoon. Strap in folks, because fight action is coming at you fast all weekend long!

Bellator 270:

Bellator 270 kicks off the biggest weekend of the year live from Dublin, Ireland on Friday November 5 with the main card starting at 4 pm CST on Showtime, prelims starting at 1 PM CST on YouTube.

The card is headlined by the biggest Irish MMA stars outside of Conor McGregor. In fact, it’s McGregor’s teammates.

In the co-main event, rising Irish superstar James Gallagher takes on fellow bantamweight contender Patchy Mix in a fight that will surely have title fight implications. Mix is currently ranked 3 in Bellator’s bantamweight rankings with Gallagher ranked 6.

Things got a little heated between them at their face off after weigh ins. Mix did miss weight for their fight, changing the fight to a catchweight fight at 138, so perhaps this is what made Gallagher mad.

The current bantamweight champion Sergio Pettis is set to make his first title defense on December 3 against Rizin champion Kyoji Horiguchi.

The main event of the card features Irish fighter Peter Queally in an immediate rematch against Patricky Pitbull (Freire) for the vacant Bellator lightweight championship. The two fought for the first time back in May 2021 at Bellator 258 where Queally won via doctor’s stoppage after the second round.

Pitbull’s brother Patricio Pitbull (Freire) recently vacated the Bellator lightweight belt so that his brother could have this opportunity to fight for the vacant belt.

Queally is a teammate of McGregor’s at Irish super gym SBG Ireland. Gallagher is a former McGregor teammate coming up at SBG Ireland, but has since moved gyms to America. Gallagher is expected to still have SBG Ireland head coach John Kavanagh in his corner, though.
