White Sox Release 30-Man Opening Day Roster And Fans Are Upset

-

After the White Sox placed outfielder Nomar Mazara on the injured list earlier this week the big question in the mind of fans was whether or not Nick Madrigal would be pushed into the Opening Day roster.

We got an answer on Thursday, as 30-man rosters were made official and the 2018 first-round pick of the White Sox will not be in uniform on the south side Opening Day against the Twins. Instead, Madrigal is headed to the team’s second training facility in Schaumburg.

Here’s the Opening Day roster for the White Sox.

Rosters will remain at 30 players for the first two weeks of the regular season before they’re cut down to 28 and then finally down to 26 for the final month of the season.

In regards to Madrigal being left off, it’s definitely about his service time.

Not only did Madrigal not make it, but another fan favorite in Yermin Mercedes was also left off the 30-man roster to begin the season, as Zack Collins made it over him.
