White Sox Lose Rookie Nick Madrigal To Injury

-

You have to wonder if the injuries will eventually catch up to the White Sox this season, but so far they haven’t. Down two starting pitchers, their starting shortstop and a reliever through the first 11 games of the season, the White Sox are currently on a six-game winning streak. However, they still can’t escape the injury bug.

On the same day Carlos Rodón went on the 10-day injured list, the White Sox lost rookie second baseman Nick Madrigal and DH Edwin Encarnación to shoulder injuries in Milwaukee on Tuesday.

Before Wednesday night’s game in Chicago against the Brewers, Rick Hahn said Madrigal separated his left shoulder.

The rookie is on the injured list, but the team is hopeful he can return by the end of the month.

Madrigal suffered his injury in the third inning of last night’s game, when he tried to go to third on a single to center off the bat of Luis Robert. Avisail Garcia nailed Madrigal at third, as the rookie had an awkward slide into the bag.

Encarnación’s shoulder issue occurred the following inning after reaching base with an infield single. He was checked out by the team trainer and stayed in the game, but eventually exited after the inning was over.

The veteran slugger is day-to-day.

Tim Anderson is headed to Schaumburg for his rehab, while the team also provided updates on Rodon and Reynaldo Lopez.

For those waiting on Dane Dunning, you’ll have to wait a little longer.
