Following their 5-3 loss to the Twins on Monday, White Sox GM Rick Hahn announced that the team is shutting down Lucas Giolito for the rest of the 2019 season.
The right-hander has a mild lat strain.
So, Giolito’s breakout season is cut short, but he was an awesome bright spot in what’s been another frustrating year in the rebuild. Giolito made 29 starts, recorded a 3.41 ERA and 1.06 WHIP, with 228 strikeouts and only 57 walks in 176.2 innings.
