WATCH: Cubs Pay Tribute To Starlin Castro Before His First At-Bat

-

Starlin Castro returned to Wrigley Field for the first time since he was traded after the 2015 season. I wrote an article yesterday explaining why I felt that Castro should get some of the credit for the Cubs 2016 World Series title and after watching how Cubs fans welcomed Castro back yesterday, I think it’s safe to say they’d agree with me.

The Cubs played a beautiful video tribute to Castro before the game which will make you truly appreciate how far the Cubs have come. If you have any bandwagon Cubs fans in your circle of friends, play this video for them and see how many Cubs players they can name.

The highlight of the day for most fans (myself included) was before Castro’s first at-bat in the top of the first. A question came up during the pre-game media session that centered around the Cubs playing Castro’s old walk-up song, “Ando En La Versace,” even though he was on the opposing team. When asked if he thought the Cubs would play it, Castro said,

“Yeah. Why not?”

Ask and ye shall receive Starlin.

To this day, that is still the best walk-up song in Cubs history (yes, even better than Rizzo’s). Castro went on to go 2-4 on the day raising his average to .367 as he helped the Yankees defeat the Cubs 3-2.

Castro’s day wasn’t over however.

Later that night, he met up with former teammate and good friend, Anthony Rizzo.

You’ll always be a Cub Starlin but could you please stop getting on base for the rest of this series?

Thanks.
