Well, this definitely looked intentional.
With one out in the seventh inning, trailing 7-0, White Sox reliever Jimmy Cordero drilled Willson Contreras directly between the numbers on the back of his jersey. After a conversation between the umpires, Cordero was ejected as well as White Sox manager Ricky Renteria and pitching coach Don Cooper.
Earlier in the game Contreras crushed a three-run homer off Dylan Cease and also launched his bat in the air before trotting around the bases.

Seems like the White Sox didn’t like that emphatic bat flip from Contreras and wanted revenge, by hitting him. You’d think they’d be all right with bat flips, considering Tim Anderson has made it an art form during the last two seasons.
