The Rumors Were Wrong, Pedro Strop Signs With The Cubs Not White Sox!

-

Whoops! Turns out that rumor going around on Thursday about the White Sox signing Pedro Strop to a minor league deal was wrong.

Strop, who was DFA’d by the Reds in August and officially released by the team on Wednesday, was supposedly going to the White Sox according to White Sox Dave from Barstool Sports.

James Fox, who has broken several White Sox deals, backed up the signing and said he even heard Strop was in camp.

But no!

ESPN’s Jesse Rogers was the first to report on Friday that although Strop was drawing interest from both Chicago teams, he’s ultimately signing with the Cubs.

Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune said the signing will be official soon.

Strop hasn’t been the same pitcher for about a year after a few hamstring injuries, but still, how can you not root for a good redemption story. Fans love him, his teammates love him, why not see if he has something left in the tank.

As for the original scoop on the White Sox and Strop, Dave’s reading comprehension failed him.
