The Plan For Yu Darvish’s Comeback To The Cubs Is Set

-

Yu Darvish’s long road back to the Chicago Cubs finally has a timetable and if all goes well the next two weeks he should be rejoining the team as early as Sept. 3.

Darvish threw another simulated game Tuesday, throwing three innings and pitching coach Jim Hickey revealed the next and hopefully last step before Darvish’s return.

Hickey said Wednesday morning that Darivsh will pitch three more times, the 19th, 24th and 29th.

Bruce Levine is reporting that the first rehab start on the 19th, will come with the South Bend Cubs on Sunday. Interestingly enough, all three of Darvish’s rehab starts could come at South Bend, as the Class-A team happens to be playing at home all three dates that Darvish is expected to start.

So, if all goes to plan, Darvish’s next start with the Cubs could come Sept 3, which would be game one of a three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers on the road.
