REPORT: The Cubs Are Signing Another Starting Pitcher

-

The Chicago Cubs have made some moves here in August, trading for a few guys, the biggest name being Daniel Murphy, and now they’ve signed left-handed starting pitcher Jaime Garcia.

The lefty was DFA’d by the Toronto Blue Jays on Aug. 25, and then released. Now, he’s coming to the Cubs.

Garcia, 32, had a 5.93 ERA in 74.1 innings with the Blue Jays before he was cut. He made 13 starts and pitched in 25 total games.

Cubs fans will certainly be familiar with him, as Garcia pitched with the St. Louis Cardinals for the first eight years of his career. He had a few good to great years with the Cardinals, posting a 2.70 ERA in 2010, 3.56 ERA in 2011 and a 2.43 ERA in 2015.

Overall, Garcia has a 3.84 ERA and 1.32 WHIP in 210 games, which include 187 starts.

Hey, you can never have enough pitching depth I guess and basically every move the front office has made aside from the Brandon Kintzler trade has worked during the past month. So, go Jaime Garcia!
