Who says Tom Ricketts isn’t spending money this offseason? He made sure to point out that the Cubs picked up Cole Hamels’ $20 million option for 2019, and of course who can forget the big free agent pick up of Daniel Descalso, looking down at fans during his radio tour Thursday morning. Well, some fans were hoping the team would do something of note before the Cubs convention and here’s your move, guys.

Scahill, 31, pitched in six games for the White Sox in 2018, after appearing in 52 games at Triple-A. He has a career 3.85 ERA in 149.2 innings.
The right-hander started his career with the Rockies in 2012, and then he pitched for the Pirates in 2015 and part of 2016. Scahill then headed to the Brewers, making 34 appearances for Milwaukee in 2016 and 2017 combined. He’s never pitched more than 34.2 innings in a season at the major league level. That career high came in 2016.
The interesting thing about Scahill: his 25.6 K% in AAA last year was the highest of any stop in his career. FIP was a full two ticks lower than ERA, due to ridiculous .379 BABIP. Similar rationale led them to Anthony Bass last winter. https://t.co/UI5PrLGwnv
