Tom Brady might be the best quarterback of all-time. The accolades and accomplishments back that up. Nobody will ever question his greatness. However, it might be time to question his sportsmanship. That has become a thing thanks in large part to what continues to happen between him and Nick Foles.

For those who aren’t caught up, let’s set the stage. Back in February of 2018, his New England Patriots were in the Super Bowl yet again. Their opponent this time was the Philadelphia Eagles who were led by Foles, an unlikely hero who’d come off the bench following the season-ending knee injury to Carson Wentz.

Foles ended up outdueling Brady in the game. He threw for three touchdowns and caught another, engineering a huge upset of the mighty Patriots. It was Brady’s third Super Bowl loss. After the final whistle, both teams came together for the usual handshakes. Brady? He was nowhere to be seen, heading straight for the locker room.

Now fast forward to 11 days ago.

Both Brady and Foles are with new teams in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Chicago Bears. It’s their first showdown since the Super Bowl in primetime. Different uniforms? Same result though. Foles created some late-game magic to give Chicago a 20-19 victory. The Bears’ first-ever against Brady.

Once again the two teams came together for handshakes after the game. Once again Brady was seen trotting off to the locker room, Foles roaming around the field looking for him. When people cried foul about that show of bad sportsmanship, others leaped to his defense. With the COVID-19 scares happening around the league, he’s just being cautious.

That worked for about 10 days until Brady was spotted hugging it out with Aaron Rodgers on Sunday.

That pretty much confirmed it. COVID had nothing to do with what Brady did. He just wanted no part of Foles, and Kyle Brandt of Good Morning Football called him out on it.

Is Tom Brady an elitist?

The initial belief for these actions is that Brady is a sore loser. He’s so competitive that when he falls in big games, he can’t bring himself to shake the hand of his opponent. Except as Brandt pointed out, he had no problem going out to meet Drew Brees after the season-opening loss to the New Orleans Saints.

Then what could it be? The only explanation left is the simplest. Maybe Brady just doesn’t think Foles is on his level and worth his time. People will argue that but the evidence is there. Not just with the two handshake blowoffs either. A few months ago during a charity golf outing, Peyton Manning was teasing him by mentioning ways he could get in his head.

When he offered the idea of having Foles as a caddy? Brady called that a “cheap shot.”

When all other possibilities have been removed, the only thing left is the truth. Tom Brady just doesn’t like Nick Foles. There is definite resentment there for whatever reason. That doesn’t excuse the Hall of Famer for being such a poor sport though.
