Roquan Smith has endured a lot of pain at the hands of the Green Bay Packers since arriving in the NFL. Such is the unfortunate life of playing for the Chicago Bears. That said, his loyalty has never wavered. It’s why whenever he gets a chance to watch the Packers lose, he’s right there with all the fans. Yet nobody expected it to happen on a frigid Saturday night at Lambeau Field.
Not against Jimmy Garoppolo and the San Francisco 49ers. Things started as expected. Green Bay marching down the field to an easy touchdown. Then something weird happened. They stopped scoring after that. Drive after drive the 49ers defense kept stonewalling them. Rodgers managed just three more points the rest of the night, eeking his team out to a 10-3 lead in the 4th quarter. Madness soon followed. A special teams gaffe led to a 49ers touchdown to tie the game. Rodgers had a chance to regain momentum but instead went just four yards in seven plays with a punt.
The 49ers ground game and Robbie Gould did the rest.
The reactions that flooded in were just one all-timer after another. Most of them were directed at Rodgers. He’d been talking trash all year. Venting his controversial opinions and even called out President Joe Biden right before this game. For him to score just 10 points at home against a team he’d hung 30 on earlier in the year was pure poetry and nobody had a more fitting reaction than Roquan Smith.

Yeah. That about sums it up. After all the talk about this being the “Last Dance.” Having the nerve to compare himself to Michael Jordan. Rodgers ended his 11th straight season failing once again to get the Packers back to the Super Bowl. Forget Tom Brady or Peyton Manning. It is becoming a discussion about whether he’s the greatest QB in Green Bay history. Brett Favre still has a better postseason record and managed to reach a second Super Bowl. Now their careers may end the same way too. Pure poetry.
