The national media lambasted the Chicago Bears for letting Allen Robinson walk in free agency last March. He’s an elite receiver and the driving force of their passing game. Yet the two sides never came to terms on an extension. The Bears weren’t willing to meet his price, feeling that while he was a good player, he didn’t warrant elite compensation. So when the receiver signed a three-year deal for $46.5 million with the Los Angeles Rams, everybody was convinced the time was finally at hand. Chicago would see what a mistake they made.
Those people seem awfully quiet these days. The defending Super Bowl champions are now 2-2 after a crushing 24-9 loss to their arch-rival San Francisco 49ers. The most disturbing part was how feeble the passing game looked. Matthew Stafford finished with 200 yards and an interception despite 48 passing attempts. Front and center to that ineptitude was Robinson, who had two catches for seven yards. He now has nine catches for 95 yards and one touchdown in four games.
Let’s say Rams fans aren’t taking to this overly well.
Allen Robinson couldn’t get open if his store hours was 24 hours! https://t.co/lCU54rnRZ3

Can we trade allen Robinson 😭 who got an Olineman for sell

Honest question… why would you even bring the guy in if you are just gonna let him run around by himself.
Literally any other receiver in the league could play the “Allen Robinson” role right now.

Last night was lack of heart lack of execution lack of focus just did not show up we gotta get back health up front… Allen Robinson has to go.. Van Jefferson has to come back.. We cannot establish the run consistently at all..

I don’t know who made the decision to let go of Robert Woods and bring in Allen Robinson. BAD DECISION!! #LARvsSF

Trading Robert Woods for a 6th round pick and signing Allen Robinson might be the biggest mistake of the offseason.

Like honestly Allen Robinson feels like one of the most disappointing free agent acquisitions we’ve gotten in the mcvay era. Dude is never open!!!!!!

Also this Allen Robinson experience so far with the Rams shows how truly elite OBJ is as a player. He came in mid season and became an intricate part of the team. Robinson had a whole offseason, training camp, practices, etc. and hasn’t done squat

Allen Robinson hasn’t looked the same for a long time.
It is hard to pinpoint where things started going wrong for the wide receiver. Nothing seemed amiss at the end of 2020. He had over 100 yards in his second-to-last game of that season. Then in 2021, something happened. The best way to describe it is his target share went down. When Mitch Trubisky was no longer there to feed him the football, it felt like his effectiveness went down the tubes. Then he suffered a hamstring injury against Pittsburgh, which made him irrelevant the rest of the year.
Everybody was sure Los Angeles would reveal the true Allen Robison. It appears that is the case, but not in the way they expect. The man doesn’t seem to thrive when he isn’t the central focus of the passing game. People talk about his 1,000-yard seasons in 2019 and 2020. They don’t talk about how he needed 305 targets to break those milestones. He needs volume to be truly impactful. That is why signing with the Rams was probably a mistake. He was never going to outpace Cooper Kupp in terms of targets.
It seems like when he’s not the center of attention in an offense, Robinson almost loses interest. His time in Chicago proved that. Now it’s happening again.
Allen Robinson sucks
Robinson being a donut in LA is not 100% his fault. Stafford and the O Line have been rushed and pummeled against 2 of the best defenses in football in Buffalo and SF. The Rams are down 3 starting OL from a year ago and just lost one more for 4-6 weeks. It starts up front. Robinson would get more targets a) if he got open more and b) if Stafford could stand in the pocket for more than 2 seconds. The first step is on A.R but LA is not Chicago and if you do not produce the fans… Read more »
I don’t even hate to say “I told you so, but I did tell you so. Seems like really good WRs can become really bad in a really big hurry. Saw this one coming all year last year.
I regret seeing how far he has fallen. It’s sad when players can not judge their own playing ability is diminished. I wish him well. I enjoyed his time with us.
Another great decision by Poles and not the media and fans. Keep the rebuild and focus going no matter who has to go. Even the QB if he doesn’t prove himself
