Latest Aaron Rodgers News Is Exactly What Bears Want To Hear

-

The NFL world is once again being held hostage by Aaron Rodgers as he decides what he wants to do. It’s incredible how similar the end of his career has become to Brett Favre. Every off-season, it was about whether he would retire or come back. People got tired of it quickly. It is happening again with Rodgers. He promised a resolution soon, but thus far, nothing has happened. Many consider him the biggest quarterback domino that needs to fall before other decisions are made. Will he stay or go?

Adam Schefter of ESPN appeared on Sportscenter to talk about the subject. While no decision has been made yet, he did make one thing clear. There are two outcomes to this scenario, and neither of them involves him being the quarterback for the Packers again in 2023.

“My sense is ultimately it will come down to whether he wants to play elsewhere, which would be really the New York Jets, or whether he wants to retire. To me, those are the two most logical options and the two most likely scenarios here.”

If you’re the Chicago Bears, this outcome is close to ideal. Rodgers going to the Jets means he won’t land with a team picking in the top 10 of the draft, increasing their trade leverage for the #1 pick. If he retires, that leaves the Packers with loads of dead cap and no draft picks for trading him.

Aaron Rodgers is finally facing football mortality.

Many considered him the unquestioned greatest ever for a long stretch of his career. However, opinions have shifted in the past few years. While his individual success remains undeniable, his inability to get the Packers over the hump to another Super Bowl is beginning to dull the luster of his legacy. He won the Super Bowl in 2010. Since then, he’s reached the NFC championship four times and lost all four. The last one was easily the worst since Green Bay had the best record in the conference and was at home.

The following year Aaron Rodgers lost at home again, this time to Jimmy Garoppolo and the 49ers. If that weren’t bad enough, he squandered a chance at a playoff berth in January by losing to Detroit (again at home) 20-16. The last pass he threw was an interception to rookie safety Kerby Joseph. If that is the last image Packers fans will have of him, it’s horribly fitting. Bears fans won’t have any sympathy for him. They’re happy just to see him go at this point. Him helping their team on the way out would be a bonus.

Rodgers is following the same pattern that Brett Favre did. Both were good QBs but both were also narcissists. They both said, “I’ll let you know if I will retire or play next year” and the Packers put up with this nonsense. Rodgers says, I’ll make a decision soon…but what is his team supposed to do, expect him to honor his contract and wait on Rodgers or just move on.

Rodgers was never going to go to any of the other teams picking in the Top 10 because he’s not going to a team that can’t win. Rodgers will only consider teams that have good offensive pieces, and a good chance to make the playoffs. So its either GB, NYJ, SF, maybe TB (Cuz the division is horrible), and MIA IF Tua is out in 2023.

Rodgers is not even in the top seven of the best QBs in history. To be in the elite category of the top 5 greatest QBs ever you have to use their record in THE PLAYOFFS to be in the discussion. Rodgers is 11-10 in the playoffs…that is all you need to know as to why he is NOT in the rarified air of being considered one the top five greatest of all time. Here are the W-L records of the greatest QBs of all time: Tom Brady 35-13 Joe Montana 16-7 Terry Bradshaw 14-5 Patrick Mahomes 11-3* Troy Aikman… Read more »

Rogers has more money than he can ever spend. I don’t think he cares anymore.

John hit it exactly on the head. Whatever fire he had is gone but he has to hang around one more year to avoid the Brady limelight in 5 years at the HOF induction. So he will reluctantly return. I wouldn’t have his half-hearted effort on my team but he’ll probably be back in the division unless the idiotic Jets waste their time chasing darkness rainbows.
