Cam Jordan Says Saints D is Equal of Bears. Akiem Hicks Has None of It

-

Cam Jordan is one of the best defensive players in the NFL. He got that way by having a lot of talent, but also a lot of swagger. He’s not afraid to do a little trash talking. He proved that last year when he laughed at the notion that Ben Roethlisberger was one of the best quarterbacks in the league.

It seems he was ready to continue that brash talk. During an appearance on NFL Network to discuss the New Orleans Saints and their upcoming schedule reveal, he talked about the games he’s looking forward to. Obviously the rematch with the Los Angeles Rams is topping his list, but it seems he prefers to save that for a month into the season.

So what about the Chicago Bears? Knowing the difficulty that Soldier Field weather in December, he made sure to indicate he’d prefer week one if possible. Then he made a bold proclamation when he stated his belief the Saints defense is every bit as good as the Bears. Then concluded by taking a thinly-veiled shot at Mitch Trubisky and the offense.

Akiem Hicks takes major exception to Cam Jordan words on Bears

It seems this statement by Jordan didn’t escape the eyes of Pro Bowl defensive end Akiem Hicks. The star Bears defender hasn’t made it secret of his less-than-cordial feelings towards his former team in New Orleans. He said he was thrilled when they lost the NFC championship game.

So one can imagine what his response was to Jordan’s words.

Jordan is likely still holding on to visions of the Bears offense he faced back in 2017. The offense that featured a rookie Trubisky with weapons like Kendall Wright and Dion Sims. Not to mention Dowell Loggains calling plays. This new one under Matt Nagy is a completely different animal, as is the Bears defense which will have Khalil Mack this time around.

Not to mention it will be at Soldier Field instead of the comfortable confines of the Superdome. Jordan may feel confident, but it’s curious he forgets that his defense ranked 14th in the league last year and 29th against the pass. He better hope his group brings more than that to the party this fall.
