Here are my three big takeaways from the Bears frustrating loss to the Texans.
Bears defense can shut down anyone
The Bears defense allowed only 19 points against one of the NFL’s most potent offenses. Even more impressive, they limited the Texans to just 3 points in the second half. Regardless of opinions, Matt Eberflus has this defense performing at an elite level, possibly making it a top-3 unit in the league.
Caleb Williams looked better despite interceptions
Despite throwing two interceptions (and nearly a third if not for a penalty), Williams appeared more in sync compared to his Week 1 debut. Caleb Williams had an average throw time of 2.59 seconds vs. Houston, making it the 6th fastest in the NFL this week. That is progress and simply great to see from the rookie QB.
The Bears offense has faced two of the league’s better defenses to begin their season. Being 1-1 is where many Bears fans expected to be after the first two games. It just stings a bit more knowing the Bears had a chance to win this game despite the offensive struggles.
The schedule gets easier
H/T to Jacob Infante for pointing out that the Bears’ schedule is getting easier on X. The Bears next three opponents offer a prime opportunity to bounce back:
- The 0-2 Colts, Anthony Richardson should struggle vs. Bears defense
- The Rams, missing key players like Cooper Kupp, Puka Nacua, and several starting offensive linemen and defensive backs
- The Panthers, who have just benched Bryce Young in favor of Andy Dalton
If there’s any time for the Bears to turn their season around, it’s now. They need to capitalize on these matchups and build some momentum moving forward, especially on offense. We might even see Caleb Williams throw his first touchdown pass next week against the Colts.
Oline sucks, typo
Defense could of had two int’s if they had followed the ball( no joke, watch game again)
Three takeaways; olive sucks, defense needs to look upwards during plays for takeaways, run the ball
Thank you Irishman thank you!
How are we turning the season around? ITS BEEN 2 FN GAMES and the Bears are 1-1!!! Last year the Bears got the holy shit beat out of them the first few games. The last time i checked there has never been playoff games at the end of Sept. Lets get at least 6 games in before we start making any kind of judgement on anything.
