Weird Chicago Bears Trade Rumor Surfaces During Call Of Duty Game

This time of year, one must be extremely careful about where they get their information from regarding NFL information. Still, in the internet age, there is no telling when a lucky person might stumble onto something totally unexpected. Probably one of the most unique is a game of Call of Duty: Warzone. One avid player may have stumbled onto something happening between the Chicago Bears and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Or so they say.

This story surfaced on NFL Reddit via user ProbationOfficer2035. He claims to be a Packers fan, so there is no bias in regards to this supposed information. According to him, he was in the middle of playing the battle royale mode on Warzone, joining random groups for each match. At one point a woman entered the group. That was when things got rather interesting.

Some interesting tidbits to be sure.

Initial speculation from the site Screen Rant that first caught the story was it was Rashaad Coward, the former Bears offensive lineman. Rumors are he’s been in talks to join the Steelers. However, that wouldn’t make much sense. Coward has little to no trade value and wouldn’t be signed to anything more than a one-year deal. So if there is any truth to this rumor, it is unlikely to be him.

One name that makes any sense in this is Allen Robinson. He’s currently on the franchise tag. Signing a three-year deal in order to “facilitate” the trade would be logical as it would lower his 2021 cap hit. Something a team like the Steelers would need. Why would Pittsburgh be interested in Robinson?

Time is running out for Ben Roethlisberger. If they’re going to make one more run with the future Hall of Famer, they need to give him as many weapons as possible. They have Chase Claypool and Juju Smith-Schuster already. Throwing Robinson into that mix would likely create the deepest receiving corps in the league.

Don’t forget Robinson went to Penn State, which is less than three hours from Pittsburgh.

Chicago Bears aren’t going to betray anything

Nobody has been able to predict their moves this offseason. Trading Robinson would certainly come as a big surprise to many. Especially given how vital he is to their offense. Could it be somebody else? Akiem Hicks and Anthony Miller were both on the trade block at certain points over the past few weeks. Pittsburgh also has a vacancy at left tackle. Maybe they have an interest in Charles Leno.

Again, this is all speculation over a rumor that was flimsy to begin with. It almost certainly nothing. Either the person misheard something or he just made it all up. Still, on the very slim chance there is something to it? Those are probably the names Chicago Bears fans should keep in mind as the draft draws closer.

If by some miracle it is Robinson? It’ll be interesting to see the return.

Realistically, the safer bet is the Bears will keep things simple next month. No huge Russell Wilson trade. No major jump up the board for a quarterback. Expect a top prospect at #20 and for the draft to unfold from there. Ryan Pace is known for being bold but dealing a key player at a time when his job is in peril? That would be crazy.
